Ben R. Games, PhD., Major, CW-4, USA & USAF, TCNA-6 Commissioned Army Aviation Class 43K, flew bombers and night fighters in WWII; during the Korean period he flew jet fighters; and in Vietnam, he flew Chinook CH-47 helicopters. He is a member of the North American Mach Busters Club and the Distinguished Flying Cross Society with 737 recorded combat hours. Ben was awarded the DFC, Bronze Star, 13 Air Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, two Medals for Valor, and two Legions of Merit. He served as a pilot with the 1st Calvary Division, 5th, 8th, 13th, and 20th Air Forces, INANG, and MIARNG.
Ben’s duties and responsibilities allowed him to live in different countries around the globe, which included Japan, France, Vietnam, Okinawa, and Grand Turk, BWI. Ben and his wife, Helen, made their home in all of these lands. Helen, besides raising two children, was awarded a silver medal for being the 86th woman in the world to fly a helicopter (Whirlygirl #86). During WWII, she once flew co-pilot in his B-25 in Okinawa and as an RO in his F-82. In Vietnam she flew with him in his Chinook CH-47 helicopter as well as accompanying him on at least one non-flying mission—recorded in the Ash & Trash Missions chapter.
